Advisor, Office of the Presidency, Inter-American Development Bank
Before his role as Advisor, Bernardo worked as Chief of the Office of the Presidency, and as manager of the Office of Outreach and Partnerships from 2008 to 2022. He was in charge of the teams dedicated to resource mobilization; partnerships and fiduciary management of third-party funds; and the IDB’s offices in Europe and Asia. He joined the IDB in 1994 as a microenterprise specialist and achieved leadership positions in the lending program for trade and investment, private-sector financing, microfinance, and smallbusiness development, as well as in evaluation and oversight. Before joining the Bank, Mr. Guillamón did consulting work in agribusiness in California and for the World Bank in Washington. He also worked with The Coca-Cola Company’s bottler in Uruguay and for other local firms in sales and marketing of agricultural equipment and inputs. Additionally, he worked in agribusiness production on his family’s farm and wrote about agribusiness in Uruguay’s Newspaper “El País” and specialized agribusiness magazines in his home country. Mr. Guillamón holds an MBA in Agribusiness from Santa Clara University (California) and a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Universidad de la República (Uruguay).
