Ignacio González

Consul General in San Francisco, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay

After working for five years at a Law firm in Montevideo, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay in 2009.
Posted to Brussels, Belgium from 2012 to 2017, he has worked at the political and international cooperation department at the Uruguayan Mission to the European Union.
Returning to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uruguay from 2017 to 2019, he worked at the
Directorate General for Political Affairs and later at the Minister of Foreign Affair’s Cabinet. In 2019 he was posted as Consul General in San Francisco, with the task to open Uruguay’s first technology office abroad.
Since then, he has carried out the business development efforts in Silicon Valley, helping contact dozens of Uruguayan tech companies with US tech companies and vice versa. In a quest to maximize efficiency, he has helped US companies outsource their software development to Uruguay as well as other key area of their operations. In addition to this, the Consulate General of Uruguay has turned as the go-to-office in Silicon Valley, not only for Uruguayan entrepreneurs but also for entrepreneurs from other Latin American countries.
Ignacio holds a bachelor’s degree in law and a Certificate of Diplomatic Studies from Oxford
University.
He speaks Spanish, English, French and Italian, and has conversational skills in German.
He was born on May 23rd, 1983, and he is Married with two children.
