Mrs. Shullette Cox was appointed President of Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) – the national investment and export promotion agency on February 13, 2023. She is passionate about supporting the growth of local companies through increased exports and investment that can positively impact the economy, and which is underpinned by strategic interventions by Government that make it easier to do business in Jamaica.
In this vein, throughout her tenure at JAMPRO,she has helped to drive the execution of numerous government reforms that have led to an increase in Jamaica’s global ranking on the doing business report; including reforms that moved Jamaica from twenty-one (21) in starting a business, to number six (6) in the world.
In her previous capacity as Vice President in JAMPRO, she supported the operationalisation of various investment projects in Jamaica and had oversight of national development programmes, including the National Competitiveness Council (NCC), the National Investment Policy (NIP) and the Jamaica Business Gateway (JBG). Mrs. Cox was also instrumental in the development stage of Jamaica’s cannabis industry and served as Interim CEO for the Cannabis Licensing Authority for two years ending 2017 – a post she held concurrently with her then role at JAMPRO.
Mrs. Cox serves as a board member for the Development Bank of Jamaica’s Credit Enhancement Fund (CEF), the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) and Jamaica International Financial Services Authority (JIFSA). She is a certified change management practitioner and a gazetted court mediator.
